Have you ever thought about what a bike bag should contain and what types it should be
Staff ride a lot! Thus, they have got a lot of tips and tricks that they have learned over the years that make riding their bike more fun, safer and more efficient.
Here are their recommendations when it comes to using bike bags
Tip #1: Pack a hand pump in your bike bag
Someone says, “I know people love their CO2 inflators
But I always carried a pump and I've rescued several runners who had their cartridges blown up because they didn't know how to use them properly.
Using a solid hand pump can be tricky at times, but it works! And it fits in my seat bags! ~ Doug Holtz, Director of Human Resources
Tip #2: Give each bike their own bike bag
Every bike I own has its own bag with matching contents inside
“Having a bag on every bike can be expensive up front but it’s worth it”
There is no need to swap the bag between bikes or change tube sizes, pumps, etc
I just grab a bike and go for a ride! No brainer, this is a good thing for me! ~ Doug Holtz, Director of Human Resources
Tip #3: Bring extra hiking tubes
Riding over 50 miles? With a couple of replacement tubes with you.” ~Joe Critzer, Buyer
Tip #4: Double check the contents of your bike bag before you ride
“Before leaving your house, double-check that the tube in your saddle bag matches the bike you were riding that day.” ~ Joe Critzer, Jupiter
Tip #5: Buy the right size bag for your bike
"Be sure to purchase your frame bag based on the size of your bike's frame." ~ Manu Yanez, Jupiter
Tip #6: Practice makes perfect
Having all the supplies you need is a much more beneficial avenue if you know how to use them
Watch some videos on how to change a tire and practice using the pump in the safety and comfort of your own garage
! This way you will be really prepared when you have to use your skills on the road
But, if you don't know how to use the supplies, it's still helpful to have them with you so your cycling partner or good Samaritan can lend a hand.
As Marketing Director Steve Parsons says, getting ready isn't hard. But not being prepared can be really annoying
Embrace these wise words when it comes to packing your bike bag and then getting out there
